TCMF was created by and is presented by the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble. 

ACWE's program explores the many moods and meanings of the world's waters through the eyes of composers spanning three continents and more than a century.

Texas Community Music Festival honors our founding organization, ACWE, who celebrated its 50th year in 2025 and continues to make our festival possible. 

The Texas Community Music Festival kicked off in Austin April 29, 2006, at Central Market North, and drew approximately 10,000 over the four days to the central Austin location, far exceeding expectations, and setting the stage for what has now become a Central Texas tradition.

The Austin Civic Wind Ensemble kicks off the Texas Community Music Festival with a preview concert of ACWE's 50th Anniversary Extravaganza. Come celebrate 50 years of making music in 2025 with a concert resembling ACWE's first performance in 1975.

Due to the weather, this concert is canceled.

The Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Robert Laguna, officially kicks off the Spring 2023 concert season with a performance at the Texas Community Music Festival on Saturday May 13 at 10:15AM.

This spring's concerts feature a program of music composed by Leonard Bernstein.

ACWE kicks off the Texas Community Music Festival at 11:00AM, April 23 2022. Now you can volunteer to staff the event by choosing your favorite time slot here. By volunteering, you get to help bands set up, supervise instrument cases during sets, hang out with your ACWE friends, and listen to some of the other great bands Austin has to offer!
