The Austin Civic Wind Ensemble formed in 1974, a time when there were very few options for community music in Austin. Key figures at the time were conductor Bill Whitworth and Austin High School band director, Corky Robinson. The first concert occurred May 25, 1975 at Wooldridge Park.
